REAL AI is a human-created weekly roundup of all things related to artificial intelligence in real estate and emerging AI innovations in other sectors likely to impact our industry.

ChatGPT as the ultimate explainer

Most real estate agents know ChatGPT is great for content creation. It's become a go-to tech tool, from crafting social media posts to drafting emails.

But here’s the kicker: most agents don’t know that ChatGPT is the Swiss Army Knife in their tech toolbox. Sure, it can help you write a blog post or instantly add just the right icons to your social post, but it’s also the ultimate explainer, definer, and decoder.

So, if you’re only using ChatGPT to write, you’re barely scratching the surface.

ChatGPT as the great explainer

One of the most powerful things you can use ChatGPT for is to break complex ideas down so they’re easy to understand. If you’re new to real estate and have no idea how a 1031 Tax Exchange works, ChatGPT to the rescue. Think of it as Cliff Notes for real estate.

Sample prompts: Explain it like I’m a sixth grader:

  • Basic Prompt: "Explain the concept of home equity like I’m a sixth grader."
  • Follow-up Prompt: "Now give me a simple analogy to understand this better."
  • Refinement Prompt: "Is there another analogy that a home buyer would relate to better?"

ChatGPT as the great definer

Toss your dictionary. Delete your Webster's or Dictionary.com bookmark. Stop Googling for a definition. Use ChatGPT instead.

ChatGPT does much more than give you a definition. It can give you clear, relevant examples of the word in action, making it easier to understand and useful. The context ChatGPT can provide exact context you need, making the alternatives highly outdated.

Sample prompts: Defining terms with context:

  • Basic Prompt: "Define ‘contingency’ in real estate."
  • Follow-up Prompt: "Give me three examples of how this term might be used during a transaction."
  • Refinement Prompt: "What's a good analogy to help a first-time real estate investor better understand this?"

ChatGPT as the great decoder

The real estate business is chocked full of acronyms. From RESO to MBA to FSBO, we are the land of alphabet soup!

Think of ChatGPT as a personal decoder ring that gives you the answer faster than any search engine. Stop guessing, and don't be embarrassed that you don't know; ask, and ChatGPT will deliver the answer.

Sample prompts: Decoding real estate acronyms:

  • Basic Prompt: "What does the acronym ‘FHA’ stand for in real estate?"
  • Follow-up Prompt: "What are the key benefits of an FHA loan?"
  • Refinement Prompt: "Explain how an FHA loan differs from a conventional mortgage."

The bottom line

If you’re only using ChatGPT for content, you are missing out. When you peel back the layers of the numerous ways you can use ChatGPT every day, you’ll discover your Swiss Army Knife is much more versatile than just using its single blade.

As your expert explainer, definer, and decoder: put it to work. Stop going elsewhere for the answers when they are all in one place. (-Kevin)
